Believe it or not, the first Smartphone was introduced in the early nineteen-nineties. Of course, it was little more than a pocket organiser with a few special features. But by the end of the decade the first Blackberry was released. Their early model was really just a fancy two way pager, but when the company released their Smartphone Blackberry, industry insiders began to see the virtually limitless possibilities of this new mobile device.
The Smartphone Blackberry was different than anything buyers had ever seen. It offered access to the internet, text messaging, email, web browsing, and even web faxing. Though the device was viewed mostly as a gadget for travelling businessmen, in the coming years dozens of ambitious Smartphone makers would follow their lead, and surpass it.
In 2007, apple released the iPhone to throngs of eager buyers and glowing advanced reviews. The units initially sold well, but when the company opened the App Store a few months later, sales skyrocketed. And two years later, Apple announced that users had downloaded over two billion apps. why smartphone app sites are so popular ? What made it so revolutionary?
It was not only that the App Store was one of the first apps sites, but also that they offered a larger catalogue that focused on applications for younger buyers. This wasn’t a coincidence. Apple had done their homework. They not only knew that younger buyers spent time on their mobile phones, but also that special features and applications were very important to them.
Adults, on the other hand, tended to use their phones as simple tools and did not desire additional features. It is no wonder that the most popular apps are mobile games, and that the most popular seller of mobile games is the Apps Store.
